Gardening & Botany ($375) June 21 – June 25, 2021
We will start off the summer by beautifying our outdoor spaces and replenishing our raised garden beds. The students will create a landscape design, plant vegetable starts, choose flowers & shrubs, and work together to bring their ideas to life. Lessons on botany, native plants, soil science, and composting will be part of this fun week.
Construction ($375) June 28-July 2, 2021
During this week, students will learn how to use basic, essential tools like a hammer & nails, screws and a screwdriver, nuts & bolts, and sandpaper. They will also learn the proper safety precautions necessary before getting the chance to use a saw and drill. This week will culminate in a building project that the students will be proud to take home.
Filmmaking ($750) July 12 – July 23, 2021
This two-week camp is an immersive experience that will give the students a chance to explore their creative view of the world while learning the basics of filmmaking. Through screenplay writing, location scouting, costume design, lighting, and sound, the students will explore all aspects of filmmaking. These two weeks will culminate with the world premiere of their film.
Music ($375) July 26 – July 30, 2021
We will be exploring the wonderful world of music in two ways – through the geography of music and through genres of music. What does music sound like in Spain or in Australia? What instruments do they use? Through songs, instruments, and live performances we will be exploring all things music this week.
Food Science & Cooking ($375) August 2 – August 5, 2021
What does yeast eat? How does it make bread rise? Why does salt help ice cream freeze? The science behind every day foods is fascinating and produces delicious results! We will be turning our classrooms into test kitchens this week as we explore a variety of foods through baking, freezing, mixing, and melting.
Mixed Media Art ($750) August 9 – August 20, 2021
During these two weeks, students explore more non-traditional forms of art through ceramics, screen printing, and photography. Students will learn how to throw on a ceramics wheel, transfer a design to fabric, and how to compose a dynamic image. Each section will have a finished final product that will reflect the child’s creativity and skill.
Wilderness Survival & Forest Science ($375) August 23 - August 27, 2021
Watersheds, forest health, riparian areas, and forest keystone species will be part of this fun week exploring our NW Rainforests. We will also learn some exciting wilderness survival skills including building a fire, making a shelter, and purifying water. A visit from Jackson Bottom Wetland outreach educators will be a part of this week.
Magic! ($180) August 30 & August 31, 2021
The last two days of our Summer Camps will be magically fun! After taking the Magician’s Oath, students will learn the foundation of a magician’s skills – redirection, sleight of hand, showmanship, and flourish. Building their skills throughout the week, each student will have a few good magic tricks to pull out of their hat when the week is through!
